Privacy & Terms

This explains, in plain language, what information The Breathing Room collects, how it’s used and protected, and the terms of using this site. Last updated: 24 June 2026.

In short: We only collect what you choose to share to arrange therapy, we keep it confidential, we don’t sell it, and you can ask to see or delete it at any time.

Who we are

This website and practice (“The Breathing Room: Therapy with Apabrita”) is operated by Apabrita Das Adhikari, a narrative humanistic psychologist offering therapy online and in person in Delhi. For any privacy question, contact apabrita907@gmail.com.

What we collect

We only collect information you actively provide:

  • Intake form (hosted on Google Forms): your name, contact details, preferred language, and whatever you choose to tell us about what brings you to therapy.
  • Messages you send via WhatsApp or email.
  • Scheduling details if you book a session through a booking tool.

This website itself is a static site and does not set tracking cookies or run advertising trackers. It uses a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool that counts page visits in aggregate without identifying you or storing personal data. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 without a parent or guardian’s involvement.

How we use it & the legal basis

Your information is used only to respond to you, arrange and provide therapy, and keep the records a therapist is professionally required to keep. The basis for processing is your consent and the steps needed to provide a service you’ve asked for, consistent with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. If you contact me from outside India, equivalent rights under your local law (such as the GDPR) are respected. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

Tools we rely on

To run the practice we use a small number of trusted third-party services, each with their own privacy policies: Google (intake form & email), WhatsApp/Meta (messaging), a scheduling tool (for booking), and GitHub Pages (website hosting). Some of these may process data on servers outside India. We share only what each tool needs to function.

Therapy confidentiality

What you share in sessions is confidential and kept private, within the standard ethical limits of psychological practice. The main exceptions are where there is a serious risk to your safety or someone else’s, or where disclosure is required by law. We’ll always aim to be transparent with you about this.

How long we keep it & how it’s protected

We keep your information only as long as needed for our work together and any professional record-keeping obligations, after which it is securely deleted. Access is limited to us, and reasonable safeguards are in place to protect it.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, or withdraw consent, at any time by emailing apabrita907@gmail.com. We’ll respond as promptly as we reasonably can.

Terms of use

The content on this site is for general information about the practice and is not medical advice or a substitute for professional care or emergency services. Nothing here creates a therapist-client relationship until we have agreed to work together. Fees and availability may change; the free intake call is offered without obligation. This site is provided “as is” and may occasionally be unavailable.

In crisis or unsafe right now? Therapy isn’t emergency care. In India you can call Tele-MANAS 14416 (24×7) or iCall 9152987821. If life is in danger, call 112.

This page is written in plain language to be easy to understand, and is kept current as the practice evolves.
